XM Radio has almost twice as many subscribers as Sirius and is about to start making profits. As such it has really relaxed on it’s competitive side. They have no promotions or special offers, and their pricing is the same as Sirius, but activation fees and longer term plans are more expensive.

Really in every way, I would recommend Sirius over XM satellite radio. XM occasionally has a volume change, that can make it go a little quieter or louder without notice. I am not alone in saying this. It is not a rampant problem, and perhaps I am being too critical of XM; but it really irritates me not to have total control over the volume.

The only reason I can think of for listening to XM is if you really love 40’s music, Oprah, or Opie & Anthony. That’s about it as far as I’m concerned. XM also has some good talk radio shows.

In order to purchase XM online you must buy a reciever, then you can activate a subscription at the XM website.
